Thanks, Plymouth Creek Elementary!

A week ago, I visited Plymouth Creek Elementary in Wayzata. The wonderful Sharon Lepensky, PCE's media specialist, set it all up, and so I had the opportunity to share my stories and writing strategies, plus laugh a lot, during three presentations--one for 5th graders, another for 4th graders, and another for 3rd graders. We were packed in tight, and each presentation was an hour, but the time careened by we were all having such fun.

Thanks, Plymouth Creek!

  1. What then does it mean to be an educator? Does it signify something different than the assigned job title? What I have learned through my work in higher education is that becoming an educator is not an automatic process. Everyone who is teaching adult students is not functioning as an engaging and highly effective educator. However, it is possible to learn how to educate rather than teach and that requires making a commitment to the profession.
