Coolest Voicemail Ever

My friend Anders, who teaches 5th grade (or is it 6th?), just left me this voicemail:

"Hi, Andy. Just wanted to let you know my students think you're cooler than Roald Dahl. They groaned when I told them we'd be reading more of Danny the Champion of the World instead of beginning your book."

While I can't agree with their taste--no writer's cooler than Roald Dahl--I more than appreciate the sentiment. Thanks to you, Mr. Johnson's class.

Barnes and Noble Event Today!

A year ago, I got to be the featured author at the Roseville (Har Mar) Barnes and Noble's celebration of summer reading event. Kids who read a certain number of books over the summer were given a free book, and I was there to read from Dizzy Fantastic and talk with kids about reading.

Today, I get to do it again (though I'll be reading from Skipping Stones at the Center of the Earth).

Come join in the fun, which begins at 2:00.

Cheers,
Andy
